The Secrets to Perfect Acrylic Engraving: Laser Controller and Material Essentials

2025-10-15

Acrylic materials are widely used in many fields such as advertising, construction, home furnishing, and industry due to their affordable price, high light transmittance and easy processing.

For transparent acrylic, CO₂ laser controller are typically the first choice in laser processing. They produce smooth engraving edges and an even frosted effect. In addition to CO₂ laser controller, UV laser controller can also be used when higher precision is required, though the equipment cost is significantly higher.

Depending on the manufacturing process, acrylic is generally classified into cast acrylic and extruded acrylic, each with distinct differences in production methods and application scenarios.

Extruded acrylic has a simpler manufacturing process than cast acrylic, with lower production costs, making it suitable for high-volume, efficient production. However, it tends to yellow with prolonged outdoor use, and its impact and chemical resistance are inferior to cast acrylic, making it more prone to cracking. It’s best for low-cost projects with simple designs and where high precision isn’t critical. Typical uses include advertising signs, light boxes, display stands, and basic protective covers where the processing requirements are minimal.

Cast acrylic offers superior impact resistance, chemical durability, and rigidity, along with excellent light transmission. The downside is that its manufacturing process is more complex, with higher costs and longer lead times. Due to mold limitations, large cast sheets are relatively uncommon. Cast acrylic is better suited for outdoor applications, projects requiring higher impact resistance, or premium uses where clarity and light transmission are key. It’s commonly found in high-end display windows, aquariums, medical equipment, and automotive tail lights—applications that demand greater performance or more intricate fabrication.

The Galvanometer Dual-Flight Vision Laser Controller, developed by Shenyan CNC, is a laser controller that integrates high-precision machining, efficient production, and intelligent control.

The Galvanometer Dual-Flight Vision Laser Controller adopts galvanometer and XY frame flight linkage technology, combined with precise visual positioning and graphic recognition functions, to achieve ultra-large-format graphics cutting and engraving, ensure processing accuracy and efficiency, and accurately present every detail.

Automatic galvanometer correction can quickly complete galvanometer calibration; the 7-inch touch screen provides an intuitive operation interface, and graphic import and parameter adjustment can be completed with one click.

The Galvanometer Dual-Flight Vision Laser Control board integrates encoder technology and adopts interferometer data compensation processing mechanism. In addition, the system supports manual adjustment of local galvanometer correction parameters to flexibly optimize local processing accuracy; at the same time, it supports compensation for errors that may occur during processing to ensure that long-term continuous operation can still maintain ultra-high consistency.

In addition, the Galvanometer Dual-Flight Vision Laser Control board supports Shenyan’s newly developed EtherCAT  system control.Compared with traditional pulse control, EtherCAT  control can simplify wiring and process faster, thereby greatly improving production efficiency.
